Shuswap Photo/Video Quest Contest

Shuswap Tourism in conjunction with Shuswap GeoQuest are holding a photo & video contest. There are 10 photo/video challenges to complete. The first person to complete all the challenges will win a $100 prize. There will also be a $100 prize for the best overall photo and another $100 for the best overall video. Clixel will award 10 Free 4x6 prints to all entrants that complete the ten challenges, as well as a Digital Camcorder for the best entry in the "LOVE THE SHUSWAP" Category. The contest will be open until Sept. 30th, 2010. All photo and videos must be taken in the Shuswap Region. The goal of the photo/video quest is to showcase the Shuswap on the internet. Pictures and Videos will be visible on Google Earth (using Panoramio and YouTube) and on the Facebook group, "Shuswap Photos & Videos". If you post stuff on the Clixel blog, Facebook group or Twitter, you will also be automatically entered into their Social Media contest with prizes including an iPad, Headphones, Netbook, and more! Geocaching Intro Session - August 25

R.J. Haney Heritage Village 10am-12pm
This event is designed to introduce people to geocaching and to provide an opportunity for those who have limited experience to practice using a GPS and meet other geocachers. There will be an orientation session to get familiar with the GPS units and practice locating geocaches, followed by a series of 10 temporary geocaches located around the heritage village. There are also 3 permanent geocaches to be found on-site. Explore the area and learn some history about the area while having fun and learning more about geocaching. The event is free and GPS units will be available to use for those who do not have their own. A lunch special will be offered to those attending the event. GeoQuest Summer Event - August 28

Join us for a day of geocaching related fun. We are organizing an event that promises to be exciting and interesting. Teams will compete solving puzzles and finding cache locations while scoring points for each find, FTF's and more difficult caches will have more points available. Cache of the Month

The timing for the cache of the month has been a bit unpredictable due to various circumstances. However, we are trying to get all future ones published within the first week of the corresponding month. The May geocache is scheduled to be published on May 2nd. Coordinates will be available at the 10 years of geocaching event.
